Starting The Bazaar Inventory

It's been awhile since I posted on this blog, I just haven't been doing much with vinyl lately.

I went through some of my supplies and found this metal piece I had bought a year or so ago and had forgotten about it. It is a brown metal that I glued scrapbook paper on then added the vinyl lettering, a flower and some bling.

This is my first official item for my 2012 bazaar. Now I just need to make about 150 more things. I better get busy.

OH CHRISTMAS TREE!

I was inspired by a similar tree I saw on Pinterest.

I bought an 8' 2x2 at Home Depot and cut it into 2",3",4",5",6",7" and 8" lengths. I then sanded and painted each piece with Wedgewood Green paint (Apple Barrel). I also sanded the edges of each block after I painted it. After that I cut pieces of scrapbook paper and glued them down on each block. Using my Silhouette I cut the lettering and applied it to the blocks.

As an after thought I added some embellishments and glitter. Hopefully you can see it in the photo below.

It is getting to be that time of year when the leaves change and the Halloween decorations start popping up all over.

Here is my first fall/Halloween craft for this year.

PLANTING AND CRAFTING

Here are the completed plant/craft projects from this month's craft get together.

There were only three of us this time with two projects getting completed. The third crafter decided she wanted to get a different pot at the last minute so she will be completing hers later and another lady will be getting the supplies and doing hers on her own.

Materials:

1 oval galvanized wash tub. (I got them at Lowe's for 12.99)

vinyl cutout flowers ( I cut mine on the Silhouette.)

gravel or rocks to cover the bottom for drainage

potting soil

plants (we used lobelia, impatiens and begonias),

birds, bird nest, rocks, twigs and sticks, etc.

Step 1.

Punch six to eight holes in the bottom of the tub using a large nail and hammer for drainage.
You can see the bottom of the wash tub here with the nail holes.

2. Apply vinyl flowers.

3. It is hard to see in this picture but we cut different colors for the flowers and placed them after the stems and smaller flowers.

4. Pour in soil and plant the plants, placing them so you can add other things.

Here you can see her birds and part of the piece of driftwood. She is going to be adding a yellow pansy in that bare spot.
This turned out so darling, the pictures do not do it justice.

Another idea might be to put vinyl lettering on that say HERBS and planting herbs in the tub and putting it where you could cut them for cooking.

Here is the pot I made.
Same concept for adding the vinyl on this pot as the wash tub planter. I added a yellow ribbon around the bottom and glued on the flower.

May Projects and Possible Future Projects

I thought that for May we would do something with plants and flowers.

You can bring your own flower pot to be embellished, or...

(Instead of the flower on this pot I thought I could show you how to make flowers from fabric to put on it.)

Cost of vinyl, paint, ribbon and fabric for flower is $5.

...if you wanted to do something larger then we could do these wash tub planters.

I will have to figure out the cost of the large tub and let you know later. I am guessing around $15- $20.

June and July craft.

For June and July I have asked one of Tasha's friends to teach us how to make this cute calendar for 2012. Because these can be a little time consuming I have decided to do them for two consecutive months. Here are three of the months so you can see how cute they are.
Cost for the calendar is still to be determined.

APRIL CRAFTY LADIES NIGHT

The third Thursday of every month a group of crafty ladies get together in my craft room and get creative.

This month we made the Blessings wood blocks with photographs Mod Podged on.

Crock Makeover

I bought these three crocks about 10 years ago while I was still decorating with blue. I have had different things in them from time to time but had put them away and nearly forgot them.

I needed to bring them up to date and thought why not do some cute vinyl on them.

This is what they looked like before.

I really like their new use, so up to date.

A COUPLE OF NEW PROJECTS

Here are two new project I made using vinyl.

This one contains the names of all of my grandchildren and some words to describe the fun we have with them.

This one is a take on the 13th Article of Faith.

(Articles of Faith are thirteen different statements that identify the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.)

Making the Easter blocks for craft night was lots of fun. Each person brought their own personality to the project; colors, papers, and embellishments made each set unique.

MARCH CRAFTY LADIES PROJECT UPDATE

THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE PROJECT FOR MARCH.

The first one is painted blocks with lettering, ribbon and glitter.
The overall length is 28 inches and the tallest block it 8 inches.
The cost for this set is $18. I will have all the blocks cut and sanded and ready to paint.

The second option has scrapbook paper and added embellishments. If you choose to make this set then you need to bring your own scrapbook paper. I have lots of ribbon to choose from. If you want to add embellishments it will be an extra $2 for those. You are also free to bring whatever embellishments you have of your own.

I'M IRISH...WELL, A little BIT

I actually do have some Irish in me.

Here is the only decoration I have for St. Patrick's Day.
For some reason my camera didn't pick up the greens very well, they look much better in person.

It didn't start out this way...

I found this at the thrift store, and while it might be somebodies taste, it isn't mine. I do love the shape of the wood though, it reminds me of the shape of a pub sign, and that is why I decided to get it. (Sorry, I started scraping before I remembered to take the 'before' photo.)

After soaking it in warm water for awhile the paper that was glued down loosened up enough so I could scrape it off

It is hard to see in the first photo but I did add some glitter to it. You can kind of see it here.

Here are the steps I used when I made it.

1. Soaked the paper to remove it.
2. Let the board dry for a couple of days.
3. Glued some green scrapbook paper to the board.
4, Cut a brown tree from my Silhouette in vinyl then applied it to the scrapbook paper.
5. Cut eight shamrocks from vinyl on the Silhouette and applied it on the tree branches.
6. Cut the letters out of vinyl also.
7. Added rhinestones to each shamrock.
8. Added little green buttons to the tree, didn't like them, removed them before they dried and added glitter to the wet glue spots. ( Design as I go, that's how I roll.)
9. Glued down a piece of ribbon to accent it.

CRAFTY LADIES MARCH PROJECT

It was decided at our recent craft night that we would do these Easter blocks instead of the blessings/with photo's blocks for March so that we would have enough time to display them before Easter. (Easter is April 24th and we wouldn't meet to make them until the 21st if we waited until April.)

If you would like to make these blocks just like the picture, which are painted, lettering applied, glittered and with ribbons tied on top the cost will be $18. As an aternative, you may choose some cute scrapbook paper and some embellishment to add to yours. Also, choose some cooridinating ribbon to match your papers and bring the night we make them. If you supply your own ribbon you can knock $3 off the price.

These are approximately 24" wide by 6-8" tall.

This will be our April project. The cost will be $10. You provide your own photo's, either printed in regular paper (we can decopauge them) or just glue the regular photo's directly on the blocks.

Edit to add: These three photo's are not mine, they are borrowed as inspiration for a small group of women whom meet to craft together. Magnet Board

I made this magnet board to go into my bazaar inventory. I took a 12x12 frame and inserted a 12x12 piece of metal (bought at Craft Warehouse) and glued a piece of scrapbook paper over the metal. I embellished the edge of the frame with some cute ribbon, added some vinyl lettering and some magnets. I might have to think twice about selling this one, I want to keep it for myself.

Re-Purposed Cabinet Doors

I bought these cupboard doors at the Habitat For Humanity Re-Store a few months ago. They were the perfect size for making some cute wall plaques in. I just glued in some scrapbook paper and put ribbon through some pre-drilled holes in the wood {I just punctured the paper after the glue was dried and poked the ribbon through}, then I added the vinyl lettering. It was great, no sanding, staining, painting the wood, it was already finished. I love quick and easy crafts like that.

I have been working on more bazaar items. Today I completed these three frames.

I don't know what it is about crafting and creating but I have an inner drive to always be creating something. It's a good thing I have found a market for my creations or else my house would be so cluttered, I'm sure you would see me on Oprah someday discussing my "clutter" issues. Or maybe on Intervention with my family trying to save me from my obsessions and addictions.

Seasonal lettering on a front door or perhaps personalizing a message on a bathroom mirror. Also adding a scripture to a special painting or picture can be very dramatic.

As you can see, holidays can be really fun to decorate for. Applying the vinyl to wood blocks, directly to windows and on tiles that are mounted on wood are some of the many ways to personalize your home with one of a kind decorations. Also note, the ornaments on the glass door are also made with vinyl.

PICTURE FRAME IDEAS

With picture frames you remove the back of the frame (the stand and cardboard) and apply the lettering to the glass then glue the glass into the frame. You can even put scrapbook paper behind the lettering for a nice look. That is what is behind the "Home" frames.

VINYL LETTERING DIRECTLY ON THE WALL

Vinyl lettering can make a statement on a wall. This was placed above my french doors. We ended up doing an addition on the house and when I remove the lettering it came right off by using a hairdryer to "soften" the adhesive by gently running the heat over the letters.
